Regional and national R&I ecosystems play a crucial role in improving competitiveness in the Member States and in the EU. Their importance lies not only in transferring R&I solutions into the industries and the society, but also in developing solutions in strong ecosystem collaboration, bringing together multiple actors.

Enhancing regional and national cooperation is a high priority for Metropolia and the ecosystem approach is at the heart of Metropolia’s RDI work. Metropolia’s unique expertise in research, development and innovation activities displays through various projects and services in our five innovation hubs providing new solutions that move swiftly from revolutionary ideas to experimentation. We have an active role in our regional as well as national ecosystems and with that cooperation we provide solutions to global challenges together.

Metropolia strongly advocates for the comprehensive focus on research and innovation as well as the holistic view on the concept of innovation as presented in the preliminary plans for the action 15. Also the focus on strengthening internal cohesion and fostering collaboration between ecosystems in different stages is important, especially to really enhance the EU’s competitiveness at a global scale.
