Fostering behaviour change and the adoption of more sustainable lifestyles is extremely important to support climate and broader environmental objectives. Political and legal decision-making is needed, but it is crucial to change individual choices as well. This action contribute to conceptualising sustainable lifestyles, including its linkages to the circular economy agenda at EU level. In higher education in Finland aim of education is to educate change makers who will renew life and society into more sustainable ones, i.e. the citizens will the executors of social change leading to sustainable lifestyles in such a way that the ecological and social basis of life endures. Here the role of higher education is significant, not only in educating the change makers, but also through RDI (research, development and innovation) activities (especially in circular economy), and acting as example.
