University of Oulu supports the proposed action to strengthen the focus on inclusive gender equality in R&I in Europe. Finland can have a role of mentoring others and pushing the inclusive gender equality agenda forward. University of Oulu has invested in this: it has multiannual equality, diversity and accessibility plans and it is one of the partners in H2020 project RESET (Redesigning Equality and Scientific Excellence Together) which aims at mainstreaming of intersectional gender equality and equity in universities. In addition, the University of Oulu was one of the first Finnish universities to recruit a full-time diversity, equality, and inclusion expert. EU wide efforts to monitor, evaluate and further develop support for implementation of gender equality are still needed.
